CoolSpools product library name

FAQ: CoolSpools Product Library Name

What is the name of the library where the CoolSpools product is installed and can we rename it?

Each major release of CoolSpools is installed with a different library name (e.g. CoolSpools V6 is installed to library COOLSPV6R1, CoolSpools V7 is installed to library COOLSPV7R1).  This allows customers to install a new CoolSpools release for evaluation and testing in parallel with their live environment.

Some users have asked whether they can rename the product library (e.g. to COOLSPOOLS).  This approach is not recommended - CoolSpools is a licensed product, and issues can arise if the licensed objects are not in the expected location on the server.

This question typically arises where a customer plans to hardcode the CoolSpools library name into every program that uses a CoolSpools command, and are concerned that every program will need to be amended with each future upgrade.  Instead we would recommend that the CoolSpools product library be added to the library list (either through the system portion of the library list, or the library list of relevant job descriptions) as this will remove any requirement to hardcode the CoolSpools library name within programs, and will mean that the library name only needs to be amended in one place when upgrading between CoolSpools versions.
