Change Job Description Library List (command CHGJOBDLIB)

This command (CHGJOBDLIB - Change Job Description Library List) can be useful when you are upgrading from one version of our software (or any other product) to another. It allows you to select multiple job descriptions (e.g. by name, generic* name, *ALL) in multiple libraries (*LIBL, *USRLIBL, *ALLUSR, *ALL) and modify the initial library list automatically.

The parameters are similar to those for ADDLIBLE. You specify a library name and an action (*ADD or *REMOVE) to add or remove that library from the initial library list.

If *ADD is specified, you supply the position in the list on a POSITION parameter, as per ADDLIBLE. You can use the POSITION(*REPLACE lib_to_replace) option to replace a library in the list.

So, if you wish to replace all occurrences of COOLSPV5R1 in all job description library lists with COOLSPV6R1, you would do:

CHGJOBDLIB JOBD(*ALL/*ALL) LIB(COOLSPV6R1) ACTION(*ADD) POSITION(*REPLACE COOLSPV5R1)

Display SMTP Journal (command DSPSMTPJRN)

This command (DSPSMTPJRN - Display SMTP Journal) can be useful when you are investigating email issues. It allows you to display the entries in the SMTP journal in a (slightly) more intelligible form than when the raw data is displayed using DSPJRN.

Please note that the IBM documentation relating to entries in the SMTP journal is incomplete and not particularly helpful, so the information displayed by this utility, which is based on the available specification, is similarly incomplete and vague. Nonetheless, it can often be helpful in determining the cause of an email problem.

Please note that the message identifiers shown in the journal are MSF's own internal identifiers and do not correspond to the email identifiers used by CoolSpools or Communiqué.
