FAQ: CoolSpools and OS/400 (IBM i)
What versions of OS/400 is your software compatible with?
The latest version of software is CoolSpools V6 which supersedes all previous software versions, including Slipstream, CoolTools and Communiqué as well as CoolSpools and CoolSpools PLUS.
CoolSpools V6 is compatible with all versions of OS/400 and IBM i from V5R3M0 up to V7R1M0 (IBM i 7.1).
If you are upgrading OS/400 from V5R4M0 or earlier to V6R1M0 or V7R1M0 (IBM i 6.1 or 7.1), there is additional information about that process here.
If you are running OS/400 V5R2M0 or earlier, you cannot install CoolSpools V6. However, we do still have earlier versions of our software you can try. Although these do not include all of the features available from CoolSpools V6, you may well still find they do what you need. See our download page for details.

We have now upgraded our test server to IBM i 7.1 (OS/400 V7R1M0) to allow us to test our software at the new release of the IBM i operating system. In order to allow us to save objects from the test server (V7R1M0) back to our development server (previously at V5R3M0), we have now also upgraded our development server to OS/400 V5R4M0.
This means that we are not longer able to compile for V5R1M0. Consequently, we are no longer able to produce PTFs/fixes/enhancements for the products listed above that will run on OS/400 V5R1M0. All future PTFs will require at least OS/400 V5R2M0 to be applied.
We still have copies of these products available that will run on V5R1M0 but those are now frozen and cannot be further developed or patched.
The latest fixes compatible with OS/400 V5R1M0 for each affected product is shown in the table below.
